Playing Hooky

Ugh. I have been home sick with the FLU for the past two days. You don't need me to tell you how awful the flu is! Everything hurts! But it sure makes one appreciate a normal, healthy life! At least the flu part is overwith, but I'm working on getting my temperature down. My mom reminded me to take Tylenol. She also came over yesterday and made me soup! She brought Saltines since I didn't have any and the other food in the house was too harsh for the flu (salsa, anyone? lunchmeat? milk? I don't think so!) I felt so much better after she came. It shows that we're never too old to be babied! Rusty also offered to baby me (he's the best nurse there is, besides my mom!) but he was at work so I told him no. I probably coulda used it.

One good thing about being home is that when the chills and pukiness is over (sorry, but you know how it is), you can read! I love to read! My mother-in-law is an avid reader and gave me this book to read:

I have made a big dent in it! I almost want to play hooky more often so I can whip throught the big stack of books I intend to read!
This book, Run, is pretty good. It has a lot of though processes going on, which can get tedious. So far I'm about 2/3 done and only about 16 hours have gone by in the plot. The people think a lot! Duh, of course they do. I do like that about the book, that all of the characters are developed well and they are all human (they all have problems).
Anyway, I hope to not have to play hooky any more this year (despite the draw to read books)! At least I'm feeling better! You all stay warm, clean, and healthy!

Our summer trip that followed the fruits

This summer has been a fantastic one! Rusty and I have been able to go on two trips that were jam-packed with visits, fun, and good food. Since we've been growing our best garden yet this year, we've been noticing the fresh fruits in their season, and how different fruits thrive in different climates. When we went to Southern California for a close friend's wedding, we stopped at a local fruit stand and loaded up on honey, plums, apples, avocadoes, grapefruits, and especially oranges. Or-an-ges (I'm saying that with a drawn-out voice, slow like when I savor the fruit)! They are one of our favorite fruits!

So we had oranges in So Cal, peaches in Utah, and blackberries back in Oregon! Plus, there were fresh breads and cookies! OH BOY! I guess we found yet another reason to love summer!

Here's what we see traveling through central California ---> It is a sight we've become very familiar with and that we love!

Up and Running (Ah was runnang!)

Welcome to our first blog on our new site, Sunshine in My Soul! Rusty and I are very excited to have a site created just for communicating with our adoption network, and we hope you find it informational and entertaining!

This site is to keep our peeps in touch as we work with you through the adoption process. We plan on posting fairly regularly, and we hope it gives you a better idea of who we are. Please post comments and if you have questions, we'll get back to you as soon as we can!

We love you!
